Eco Alternative Energy also offers Micro-FIT Systems allowing you to send the power you produce into the power grid via either the Feed In Tariff ( Micro-FIT and FIT) Program or Net Metering.
To further Canada's commitment to lower Green House Gas (GHG) production the Ontario Government has introduced the Green Energy Act, an excellent incentive for property and business owners to sell electricity to their Local Distribution Company (LDC). The proposed Micro-FIT rate is 80.2 cents per kilowatt hour. That is about 13 times the rate consumers pay for their electricity. This contract is transferable and guaranteed for 20 years. The concept behind this project is to help supply the grid during peak hours (the middle of the summer when the sun is strong and air conditioning units are running full out) and to help replace Nanticoke's coal fired power plant which is scheduled to shut down in 2012.
The government is initiating a program that not only encourages CO2 reductions but also makes financial sense.
Net Metering allows you to use the Solar Power you generate. Any excess power you produce will be automatically directed into the grid. You won’t get paid for this power. Instead, it will cause your meter to slow down or even spin backwards thereby reducing your bill and perhaps producing a credit (depending on how much power you are producing) on your hydro bill.
The following Micro-FIT Systems do not include a battery backup component. All installations include processing of Feed In Tariff or Net Metering applications and an Electrical Safety Inspection. Annual kWh production is estimated.
