Evacuated tube technology has a higher performance rating in colder temperatures. The collector positioned inside a very strong borosilicate glass tube. The tube is sealed and the air is then evacuated from the tube. With the absence of air in the tube, there is very little heat transfer to the colder air outside the tube. This lack of heat loss makes the evacuated tube very efficient in colder temperatures.
